Application for the International Doctoral and Postdoctoral Forum for Gender Studies in Theology and in Religious studies, summer semester 2026
At the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Graz, the research focus on gender studies has existed for 30 years. In order to promote internationalisation and to offer its expertise to other faculties and universities which have less prominent or no theological gender competence, the University of Graz has set up an International Doctoral and Postdoctoral Forum for Gender Studies in Theology and in Religious Studies.
The Forum will support doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers. It is aimed especially at those willing to discuss gender relevant theological questions in their doctoral or postdoctoral theses (“Habilitation”) with qualified researchers. Applicants from disciplines other than theology with gender-specific issues are also welcome (e.g. reception of biblical texts in literature or history of art).
Please send your application for the Forum in summer semester 2026, 19–21 April 2026, including CV, a short outline of your project (max. 4 pages) and the issues to be discussed by 8 March 2026 to: michaela.sohn-kronthaler(at)uni-graz.at.
For the International Doctoral and Postdoctoral Forum in Graz, 5 scholarships for travel and accommodation expenses to / in Graz for doctoral and postdoctoral students will be awarded.
The Forum will start on Sunday 19 April 2026 in the afternoon and end on 21 April 2026 at noon. Scholarships are restricted to students with an ongoing dissertation or habilitation project in theology, humanities or cultural studies. For a full refund of travel costs participation in the whole Forum is mandatory. Scholarship recipients will be selected according to quality of application and international diversity.
