The Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Graz is inviting applications for:
The Elisabeth Gössmann Awards for outstanding research on women's and gender studies in the fields of theology and religion.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the faculty's research focus "Women's and Gender Studies in Theology", the Elisabeth Gössmann Awards will be offered internationally as jubilee awards in 2024.
Research Award
Award for a dissertation or habilitation (amount: EUR 3000.00).
This thesis, written in German or English, should critically investigate issues related to women and gender in Christian or other religious or ideological/philosophical traditions and also contribute to recent research in an innovative way. The dissertation/habilitation should have been completed no more than three years ago. The thesis, including an academic CV, one-page abstract and a cover letter highlighting the innovative contribution of the research, must be sent to elisabeth-goessmann-preis(at)uni-graz.at by 15 May 2024.
Advancement Award
Award for a thesis at the Master's level (amount: EUR 1000.00).
The thesis, written in German or English, which must have been graded above average, should critically investigate issues related to women and gender in Christian or other religious or ideological/philosophical traditions. The degree should not have been completed more than two years ago. The thesis, including a short CV and a one-page abstract, must be sent to elisabeth-goessmann-preis(at)uni-graz.at by 15 May 2024.
The prizes will be awarded at an international symposium to mark the above-mentioned jubilee in fall/winter 2024. The award winners will be asked to present their work at this academic event and to publish the most important results in the conference proceedings.
